Just kidding. Alhamdulilah...we don't always buy gifts on Eid...but it's nice to...as the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
Tahaadu tahaabu

Yaa ilaahi.

I went to a shop and there in front of me was the Joseph Joseph salad bowl...£30 or whatever and my husband even said I could buy it...but...for some reason...I just couldn't do it! I just couldn't justify spending £30 on a salad bowl, when I've got nice bowls at home and it felt really frivolous.

We've got to be careful not to be wasteful, (gifts are another matter but buying for ourselves, we have to be careful not to go over the top) the way the dunya is...even if you have the best bowl in the world (I can't believe I'm talking this much about a salad bowl!) next week, you'll walk into a shop and see an even better one...one that'll make your super-innovative bowl look ancient. That is the nature of the dunya...we will never feel satisfied by it.

(Maybe I'll get it for my mum and then borrow it from her?!)

Yes there are some really beautiful things you can make for people as gifts.

My son has done some lovely colourful sewing for his grandparents with 'nani' and 'nana' written in thread in the middle and I just got it framed...it looks really nice ma sha Allah and I'm going to hang it in their house for when they get back from Umrah insha Allah.

Thank you for reminding us about the prisoners. Yes...write to them, send them what you can...

Don't forget your relatives!

Remember our relatives at this time...send relatives back in your parents country gifts or even a card or letter...build bonds...let your children send them things...keeping the ties of kinship is enjoined on us so many times in the Qur'an.
